ICT and computing covers a wide range of topics aimed at developing students into digital learners who can understand and utilise the power of the digital world.

Overview of Key Stage 3

Students in Year 7 and Year 8 are studying an introductory course looking at the fundamental principles of Computers, enhancing this knowledge with an introduction to various programming techniques using Scratch, Kodu and Python. They will also cover key topics such as presentation software, spreadsheets, word processing, databases and e-Safety.

Students across the year groups focus on safe use of ICT and in particual staying safe online.

Students study a wide rang of topics which promote the thinking about moral and social issues. Students look at the impact ICT has upon society and analyse the implications of this.

Throughout all classes careful management of file and folders is considered and students are encouraged to be pro active in their approach to this.
