“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to a man in his language that goes to his heart”Nelson Mandela
Throughout Key Stage 3, we aim to build on the language skills that students have learnt throughout Key Stage 2. We develop students listening, speaking, reading and writing skills together with actively promoting cultural awareness. We utilise a wide variety of authentic resources, including video and podcasts, together with online resources to support student learning.
At Key Stage 4, we continue to build on students’ skills from Key Stage 3. Students complete AQA GCSE Spanish (8698). This new GCSE specification is assessed by final exams at the end of Year 10, which test students on the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Monday – Intervention with Outwood Grange Academy Trust’s Director of MFL.

The MFL Department encourages students to explore other cultures and beliefs alongside their own.
The learning styles with the MFL classroom encourage students to persevere in a climate of respect.
The MFL schemes of Learning allow students to express and accept points of view and the reasons behind them.
We concentrate on building confidence through developing all 4 skills in each project.
All schemes of work are designed to show progression to enhance self-worth.
