I began my teaching career in 2001 after completing a degree and PGCE in Religious Studies and Theology. The first couple of years of my career were based in Harrogate where I soon became the Head of the RE department. After 2 years here I made the decision to move back to the North East and start as Head of RE at a school in Redcar. I remained here for 10 years, taking on a variety of roles which included Head of MFL, Leader of Citizenship, Leader of Learn to Learn and as an Advanced Skills Teacher in Teaching & Learning. From this role I moved to Bydales as an Assistant Headteacher responsible for Teaching and Learning, moving from here to Ormesby School in 2014 as Deputy Headteacher. I am currently Vice Principal at Outwood Academy Ormesby with responsibility for Deep Learning and Deep Experience.
Throughout all the roles I have had in my career the underpinning focus of all is ensuring that students gain the best experiences and the best opportunities to help them succeed in all that they do – both in school and beyond school.
