We are very proud of the Library at Outwood Academy Ormesby. It provides an excellent resource for students and staff with over 11,000 books as well as magazines, newspapers and computers.
Every student in school is a member of the Library and we encourage everyone to regularly borrow books, recognising the strong links between reading and attainment. We run a student librarian group, shadow book awards and organise author visits.
The library is open every day, with qualified staff on hand to offer guidance.
Students are welcome to use the Library at breaks, lunchtimes and before school from 8.00am and after school Monday, Thursday and Friday until 3.30pm.
We offer a full programme of Enrichment after school.
Student Librarian Enrichment is held on a Wednesday this is a group if dedicated students who learn all aspects of running a library.
Computer access is also available daily before school, and after school for students to do research or complete their homework.

If you have any queries or would like to come into school to visit the Library please contact us: 01642 452191.
The Library runs and promotes various reading schemes within school and provides support where needed to students and their parents or carers as detailed below.
The Accelerated Reader scheme encourages Year 7, 8,and 9 students to enjoy reading a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books that are available in the academy library, thereby supporting literacy in all areas of the curriculum.
Library staff and teachers have worked hard in promoting reading and understanding using books and online quizzes to ensure progression in the AR programme.
Students can take quizzes from home once they have finished reading a book by accessing the Accelerated Reader website link at the bottom of the page.
If you would like any more information regarding this please ring the Academy and ask for Mrs Molyneux, Mrs Rogers or Miss Norton who will be pleased to answer any queries you may have.
